You will explore the beautiful beaches of Akumal, visit the pristine cenotes of the Yucatan peninsula, eat locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, practice yoga and meditation at the Lunah Ekumal Sanctuary. Grab some friends and snag the tree house which has a king bed, double bed and one set of bunk beds, 1.5 bathrooms, its own kitchen, living room and patio.

Getting there

The easiest way to get to Ekumal Eco Sanctuary is to fly to Cancun (airport code CUN). If you are traveling from New York City there are direct flights via JetBlue or American Airlines. The drive from the Cancun airport to the Ekumal Eco Sanctuary is about 90 minutes. Once we have everyone’s flight information we will coordinate transfer to and from the airport. Airport transfer is included.

FAQ

Do I need a visa?

US citizens do not need a Mexico visa for tourism, business, or short visits of up to 180 days.

Do I need to get any specific shots?

Nope!

What is the exchange rate? And can I use my credit or debit card?

It’s best to pay in Mexican pesos while in Mexico and best to use ATMs at local banks. All of your meals will be paid for, you can purchase alcohol separately if desired. Find current exchange rate here.

Is the water safe to drink?

Complimentary purified water will be provided at the eco-resort, bring a water bottle to fill up!

What’s the temperature usually during the day...does it drop at night?  Is it rainy? 

During December daytime temperatures in Akumal are around 85° F. At night, the temperature can fall to 64° F. It’s possible we’ll get a few rain showers.

How do you get around the area?

For the most part we will hang out at the eco-resort, but when we take our excursions transportation will be provided to the beach and the cenotes.

Yes! We are happy to cater to any dietary restrictions.
