Getting there
There are many flight options to Krabi or Phuket. Please reach out with any questions about booking your travel, we will be happy to assist you in the best flight routes and options. Please note it’s more cost effective to search flights to Bangkok, then separately book the short flight to Krabi, followed by van transfer to Koh Lanta (about 2 hours). Alternatively, you can fly to Phuket and then van transfer to Koh Lanta (about 4 hours drive).
Once we have everyone’s flight information we will coordinate transfer to and from the airport. Van transfer to and from the airport is included in the retreat cost.
FAQ
Do I need a visa?
U.S. citizens carrying a tourist passport and in possession of an onward or return airline ticket do not require a visa to enter Thailand. The passport must have at least six months validity remaining to be allowed entry. Upon entry, Thai immigration officials will place an immigration stamp in the passport permitting a 30-day stay in Thailand if arriving by air or land. This time limit may subsequently be extended for an additional 30 days by paying a 1,900 baht fee to the Thai Immigration Bureau office.
Do I need to get any specific shots?
You do not need any specific vaccinations to travel to Thailand.
What is the exchange rate? And can I use my credit or debit card?
It’s easiest to use Thai baht when out shopping or eating as using your card will incur a fee. There are many ATMs you can use to withdraw Thai baht with your American debit card. You can also exchange money at the airport, find current exchange rate here.
Is the water safe to drink?
It’s not recommended to drink the water on the island, however Oasis provides multiple stations with filtered water to fill up your bottle. You can bring your own bottle or use the Trash Hero reusable bottles provided in each room.
What’s the temperature usually during the day...does it drop at night? Is it rainy?
During March the average temperature on Koh Lanta is about 85° F. At night, the temperature falls very little. Average lows for March are estimated at 77°F. While there is a greater chance of rain in March than there is in the two months it followed, it is uncommon to actually see any major precipitation in Koh Lanta at this time of the year, but it doesn’t hurt to pack a light rain jacket just in case!
How do you get around the island?
There are lots of shops and restaurants you can walk to from Oasis either on the main road or the beach. If you want to venture further you can either hire a tuk tuk (auto rickshaw) to take you to another part of the island or even rent your own motorbike through Oasis for daily or weekly rates.
Are there vegetarian food options?
Yes! A typical breakfast at Oasis includes fresh homemade bread, homemade chia seed granola, homemade yogurt, local veggies, fresh eggs, loads of tropical fruits, cheeses, sweet potatoes and cold pressed juices. Lunches will be Thai, prepared clean, light, and fresh with an option of chicken or veggie. Snacks will include smoothies and fresh tropical fruit. When eating out you can always choose a vegetarian option.
